Rill House is Grade II Listed and over 400yrs old. During the winter of 2022/2023, it was lovingly redecorated, working with local contractors and the support of an interior designer, all of which kept in mind that our guests bring their dogs and it is as much their holiday as their owners. 

Turn into your private enclosed courtyard through the solid double wooden gates, and you will see quite how private and peaceful a location you have arrived in, with the sound of your stretch of steam and bird song greeting you. In the heart of the historic fishing village of Slapton. Private enclosed parking for at least 3 cars within the courtyard, which is a rarity in the village.

From the courtyard, a little footbridge across the stream leads into your huge enclosed garden designed with dogs and people in mind, our dogs love zooming around it when they are there; we are sure yours will feel the same.

Accommodation at Rill House

Enter the house from your private South facing courtyard into the well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen-breakfast room with a built-in electric ‘range’ double oven, large American-style fridge freezer ideal for raw fed dogs, double Belfast sink, dishwasher, microwave, Tassimo coffee machine (bring your own capsules), Amazon Echo, dining table to seat 8 and 3 seater sofa. 

Leading off from the kitchen is a utility room with a Belfast sink, washing machine, and tumble dryer.

The dual-aspect living room is designed for relaxing and socialising with comfy sofas, TV with Sky Stream (Sky Entertainment and Netflicks), and a fireplace with a wood burner stove.

As with the rest of the ground floor (except the kitchen) the floors are Engineered Oak, chosen for its non-slip properties and varnished with a specific varnish to maintain that non-slip finish.

The dining room has a feature fireplace and is a perfect place for more formal dining. 

The snug has games and books for all ages, including 2 exclusively designed play boards for younger guests, and a selection of outdoor games is kept in the understairs storage.

On the first floor, the Owls Roost Bedroom has a kingsized bed, a built-in wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. The Portrait Gallery Bedroom has a kingsized bed, wardrobe, and chest of drawers. 

All the bedrooms, stairs, and landings are carpeted and have thick underlay for comfort underfoot. We chose not to have wooden floors upstairs as with a 400yr old house they can be noisy but with the flooring we chose that is not an issue. 

The 1st-floor Bathroom has a walk-in shower with a wonderful rain shower, an integrated handset (if rain showers are not your thing) and side jets, a basin with a touch light mirror with an integrated shaving socket and WC. A heated towel rail and radiator for cooler days.

On the second floor the Dilly Dally Bedroom with a kingsized bed, a built-in wardrobe and chest of drawers, a vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers and bespoke wallpaper featuring Dalmations. 

The Salty Sea Dog Bedroom has full-size twin beds, a wardrobe, and chest of drawers, vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers. 

As you enter the 2nd-floor bathroom you will be greeted by a decadent free-standing, roll-top, claw-footed double-ended bath, time to unwind! Or if showers are more your thing the walk-in shower with a wonderful rain shower with an integrated handset (if rain showers are not your thing) and side water jets should be just what you were looking for. Basin with touch light mirror with integrated shaving socket and WC. We have used a special privacy film on this bathroom window, meaning you can see out but no one can see in, we promise! So you can take a shower or a bath and enjoy the view in privacy.

All four bedrooms have window seats and views across the village to the church, TVs, and hairdryers.
